A very successful multi-project day

February 9, 2009

For the first time, we had three projects going at once today. We glued up five frames for 12″ x 24″ mattes. We also put the finishing paint on the interior of an oak corner cabinet, and we continued the processing of the wood for the bird feeder.

We were hoping to get all of the wood ripped and cross-cut for the bird feeder today but we were using the outfeed table as our glue-up station. We will start ripping tomorrow morning.

Shasta Junction has a blog!

February 8, 2009

We have modified the website to add blog functionality to it. This will allow customers, potential customers, and who are we kidding, family members to follow along with our activities.

As you can see you can get to the blog from the navigation button above. If you want to actually follow along you can add our blog to your RSS aggregator. If you have not used an RSS aggregator before, we recommend Google’s Reader. If you need help drop us a line and we can walk you through the process.

Why would you use an aggregator? Well, instead of going to all of the websites that you follow individualy each day, an aggregator follows that web site and grabs all new updates and sends them to you. Consider it sort of like email for web sites.

Started work on crafts for next craft show

February 7, 2009

We started working on US flags and bird feeders for the Spring show coming up in March. We will also be posting these items up on Etsy once they are completed.

The flags are made of wood, and each stripe is an individual piece of wood. Each star has been cut out with a scroll saw. Very labor intensive. The first set of bird feeders is based on a covered bridge concept. Once one of each item has been completed, I will post a picture of it here on the blog.

We added Google AdWords this evening

February 5, 2009

We added Google AdWords this evening to let more people across the country that we are available for producing the wood products for their seminars. While the word is started to spread via the instructors we are hoping to jump start the expansion by becoming familair to people who use Google to seach for these types of items.
